How to replace the hard disk inside a 13inch Macbook Pro

In this video I show you how simple and quick it is to replace the hard disk inside a 12″ MacBook Pro

You will only need 1 tool for the job and about 10-15 minutes of time to complete the process.

With hard drives becoming cheaper and cheaper and storage getting larger you can very easily replace your old hard disk with a new larger drive or even a solid state drive

How to Install Yosemite onto a USB Drive

This How To video will walk you though installing OS X Yosemite onto a external USB Drive.  I recommend getting a fast USB flash drive to give the best over all experience. Your flash drive should be at least 16GB.  Remember that the performance of Yosemite will be slower running from a USB drive but it will be sufficient enough for you to get a look and feel for what is coming up in the near future.

Requirements for installing Yosemite

Fast USB Flash Drive with 16GB or more space available
Compatible Mac – Most Macs after 2008 should be ok
Your copy of OS X Yosemite

How to Downgrade your iPhone 5s from iOS 8 to iOS 7

In this video I show you how to downgrade your iPhone 5s from iOS 8 Beta back to iOS 7.1.1

Like many people I wanted to try out the new iOS 8 which was announced on June 2nd at Apple’s WWDC14 Event.

iOS 8 is currently in beta testing and is should only be installed if your prepared for problems and bugs.  For me a few apps that I use on a daily bases kept crashing so I have decided to downgrade from iOS 8 to iOS 7.1.1 and wait for iOS 8 Beta 2 which might be more stable.

The steps I have taken in this video will restore my iPhone 5s back to iOS 7.1.1 and then used my latest back to restore my iPhone back to how it was before I upgraded.

The first thing to note is that it is destructive and it will erase all apps and data on your device.  If you don’t have a backup of your phone before you upgraded you will lose it all..  You have been warned.  You can restore iOS 8 from iOS 7 backups but not iOS 7 from iOS 8 backups

1. First thing you want to do is get a copy of 7.1.1 IPSW for your iPhone.  Make sure you have the correct one.

2. Plug your iPhone into your mac and start itunes

3. Put your iPhone into recovery mode.

4. once in recovery mode you will want to press and hold “alt” and click restore in itunes.

5. browse to where you saved your IPSW file and select it.

6. Site back and wait

7. If you have backup your iPhone before you upgraded to iOS 8 then you can restore from that backup.

Good luck.
